Samsung Galaxy S5 Release Date Slightly Delayed as Company Focuses on Tablets?
Samsung Galaxy S5 release date may be slightly delayed as the company plans to focus on tablets, according to a report by G4Games.
The same Web site cited a report from ETNews, a Korean Web site, stating that the company will focus more on entry and mid-range smartphones next year, with only 35% out of 360 million smartphones to be "highly priced" devices.
The report added that the Samsung could focus its attention towards the tablet market in order to compensate for the expected low sales of Samsung smartphones. There is a lot of room for improvement in the Samsung tablet line-up.
Although Samsung is currently on top of the smartphone market, overtaking Apple in terms of sales, Apple continues to dominate the tablet market. It seems that Samsung wants to have a firm hold on the tablet market.
Rumours that Samsung is planning to release a 12.2-inch Galaxy Note have flourished since the refreshed iPads were announced. It seems that Samsung wants to take a bit out of Apple's sales by releasing the new Galaxy Note 12.2-inch device around the new iPad's launch. The new device would be larger than any device that the company currently offers consumers.
According to circulating rumours, the device is already in the works since June. Reports of Samsung obtaining an alleged Bluetooth certification in September led some to believe that the device was going to show up right around the busy holiday shopping season. However, Samsung has not confirmed these rumours about the tablet.
Mobile Bloom, a tech blog, cited unnamed sources which claimed that the new device is supposed to hit the market before the latest version of the iPad does. The 12.2-inch Galaxy Note will be competing with the new iPad Air, which hit the market on Nov. 1.
Other reports claimed that Google dropped Samsung in working on the 10-inch tablet of the company. The new Google's tablet that is supposed to debut in the next few weeks will be manufactured by ASUS, which made the Nexus 7 as well.
Samsung could introduce the new Galaxy Note 12.2-inch device to the market before the holiday shopping season, but it is also possible that the company may announce the tablet next year yet, delaying the Samsung Galaxy S5 release date.
