Samsung started mass production of 5.25-inch QHD (Quad HD) AMOLED display set for the next flagship phone. According to recent reports, the Samsung Galaxy S5 release will be just around the corner as soon as the mass production of the mentioned display is complete. The Samsung Galaxy S4 has been named one of the most powerful smartphones yet, thus the attention over its successor. Can the Samsung Galaxy S5 deliver?

NDTV reported that the Samsung Galaxy S5 will be featuring a diamond pixel arrangement. According to SamMobile, the technology comes with green pixels "interleaved" alternately with red and blue pixels. The red and blue pixels are formed in a diamond shape for better pixel density and sharpness. There were also sources saying that the new Galaxy S5 will sport 1,440 x 2,560 pixels for resolution. Pixel density is at 560 ppi.

Contrary to what was previously reported, the 2014 flagship phone will not come with a curvy design. There are production limitations; thus, Samsung will not include it in its line. Design and Trend cites the Herald Sunday as reporting that analysts are saying Samsung and Apple decided to do away with the curved screen because of production delays. The companies cannot sustain as much production because flexible displays require more time.

"The current capacity for flexible panels is not high enough for the Galaxy S5, which will be rolled out early next year," Kim Jong-hyun, an analyst at Seoul-based Eugene Investment & Securities, was quoted by The Korea Herald. "Curved ones will be unveiled late next year as a Galaxy variant rather than as a flagship model," the analyst added.

Many reports claim Samsung plans to announce the device during the Mobile World Congress or MWC in February. However, the release will likely be a month or two later around March or April. The Samsung Galaxy S4 was released in March 2013. It is possible Samsung will follow a similar timeline.

Analysts also think Samsung will include a 64-bit procesosr on the device given Apple's iPhone 5s already came with such technology. The iPhone 5s posted impressive benchmark results. The 64-bit processor set standards which sources think Samsung will follow.

It is best for people to wait for official announcements.
