Samsung Galaxy S5 Round of New Specs: ISOCELL Image Sensor, 2K Display, Android 4.4 KitKat, 64-Bit CPU but No Fingerprint Scanner
Samsung Galaxy S4 has been a huge hit. It is one of the best selling products of Samsung earning praises here and there. With a good follow up to their Samsung Galaxy line, it is only natural for the spotlight to be on the next device for release. More and more reports sprung up about the specs of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5. This time new info points to a better display, 64-bit CPU and a new image sensor technology.
ISOCELL Image Sensor
The Samsung Galaxy S4 offered a pretty excellent camera shooting at 13MP on the back. According to latest reports, Samsung will take it further and increase the pixels to 16MP. That is not as powerful as the 41MP Nokia Lumia 1020 or the 20MP Sony Xperia Z1 but it is not just about the camera.
Likewise, it was also reported that Samsung will be addinga new CMOS image sensor technology called the ISOCELL. The new sensor technology can separate individual pixel and reduce electrical cross talk. This means images produced are sharper and have higher color fidelity.
2k Display
Samsung already managed to create a sharper display so it may be tricky for them to attempt anything higher. Humans can only deal with a certain level of sharpness. This does not seem to stop the Korean tech giant as reports highlight the company planning to include a 2K display on the S5. This will yield a pixel density of 560ppi for a screen that only extends up to 5 inches. The new resolution should offer better animations, videos and color performance. Previously, Samsung said it wants its devices for 2015 to be on 4K. This is a step closer.
64-Bit CPU
Apple's move to include the 64-Bit on their iPhone 5s put the spotlight on Samsung. Will the Korean tech giant also make a similar move to compete? Apple's 64-bit on the 5s blew benchmark tests earning praises. It looks like Samsung is all set to do a similar thing as recent leaks say the company has been working with ARM to include the latest fancy chip on their upcoming device. It does not seem that Samsung wants Apple to take the lead so the rumors on the 64-but are likely true.
Similar to the latest Android devices, the Galaxy S5 is expected to run on Android 4.4 KitKat. As for people expecting a fingerprint sensor on the S5 like Apple's iPhone 5s, there are no clear indications yet.
