Samsung Galaxy S5 Runs Into Production Issue Due to Camera; Only About 5M Units to Ship?
Samsung Galaxy S5, the latest and most awaited flagship smartphone of 2014, is reportedly facing production setback. A possible delay of Samsung Galaxy S5's launch is doing rounds in the blogosphere.
According to South Korean media reports, Samsung faces difficulties pertaining to Galaxy S5's ISOCELL camera sensor. Reportedly, there is another problem plaguing the market leader with the stability of the lens module-coating process.
Earlier reports suggested Samsung was having problems in molding the six-element optics. Also, during the first half of March, there were reports there is a supply problem for the fingerprint sensor.
As per reports, a factory that develops Galaxy S5 phones had caught fire earlier, damaging a batch of stock materials/components, which added fuel to the fire in questioning the company's ability to keep up with the demand.
With these production issues, Samsung could only make 4 to 5 million Samsung Galaxy S5 units in place of the expected 5 to 7 million units.
South Korea can expect Samsung Galaxy S5 to arrive earlier, i.e. before April 5, than its global launch, i.e. April 11, NDTV claimed.
One of the rumored variants of Galaxy S5 smartphone was spotted in a leak providing some information about Camera Zoom.
Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom is expected to have a 20 MP sensor, 10x optical zoom, HDR, with image stabilization and a Xenon flash.
The camera feature includes a physical camera shutter button and a throttle for zoom control.
Galaxy S5 Zoom is set to sport a 4.8-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, an improvement from Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom's 4.3-inch display with 960 x 540 resolution.
