Samsung decided to create a new 64-bit processor for its upcoming flagship phone, Galaxy S5, in 2014. But the Korean tech giant will surprise fans with its RAM chip, improved battery life and exterior made from aluminium with carbon fibre material.

64-Bit CPU and Ultra-Slim RAM

Samsung won't let Apple steal the limelight with the iPhone 5S's 64-bit CPU that currently ranks as the fastest in mobile devices. Samsung is now developing a 64-bit processor to match Apple's own creation. This chipset will become a part of the Galaxy S5 due in 2014, according to TrustedReviews. The same Web site also reports that Samsung chief executive office in mobile division, Shin Jong-Kyun, confirmed the ongoing development of 64-bit processor for future Galaxy devices.

"Not in the shortest time. But yes, our next smartphones will have 64-bit processing functionality," the CEO told Korea Times, quoted by TrustedReviews.

Aside from the super speedy CPU, the Samsung Galaxy S5 will feature an ultra-slim memory chip or RAM to make the device slimmer and thinner compared to any other members of the Galaxy S line. The company started doing mass production of 3 GB low-powered DDR3 RAM chips for mobile devices and is currently developing more advanced components.

Aside from making the Galaxy S5 slimmer, the ultra-slim RAM chip can also increase battery life without decreasing multi-tasking speed and performance. A company spokesperson confirmed the idea of Samsung's new design:

"Samsung's new ultra-slim memory solutions will enable thinner smartphone designs and allow for additional battery space, while offering a data transfer speed of up to 2,133 megabits per second (Mbps) per pin."

Ultra-slim memory solutions will not only bless the Galaxy S5 but are expected to arrive as well on the Galaxy Note 4, New Galaxy Tab line, upcoming Galaxy Note with large screens and other next-generation mid-range smartphones.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Upcoming Features and Specifications

Aside from the 64-bit CPU and 3 GB ultra-slim RAM on the Galaxy S5, the smartphone will feature an improved camera which may be similar with Galaxy Note 3 or better, metallic components for the exterior body and higher capacity battery pack.

Sources have confirmed the upcoming new design materials for the upcoming devices on the Galaxy S line with the new "Design 3.0" standard inside Samsung.

"While we don't have the slightest idea what Design 3.0 really means in terms of looks, we can now confirm that Samsung will start to use aluminium for its high-end smartphones, and the Samsung Galaxy S5 will be the first one to receive this treatment."

Another possible add-on to the Galaxy S5 is light-weight materials such as carbon fibre-based products. Samsung already acquired the SGL Group which specialises in carbon fibre technology, and it would play a role on future phones and tablets.

"Lightweight materials have become an important factor not only in industrial applications but also the consumer end markets such as digital media. This partnership will position Samsung as a leading player in the development and application of carbon fibre-based products," statement of Yoosung Chung, President and CEO of Samsung Petrochemical.

Added to all of these new technological innovations is the Android 4.4 KitKat coming in October 2013 which greatly optimises lots of Android devices and improves overall ecosystem and performance.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 has no price tag as of now but is expected to be announced at the CES 2014 event in Las Vegas, Nev.
