The iPhone 5s is currently on top of the game when it comes to the smartphone battle, beating Samsung Note 3 and Galaxy S4. For 2014, a new Samsung flagship device, which is called the Galaxy S5 is set to give the iPhone 5s a tough competition.

Here is a glimpse on what to expect between Apple iPhone 5s and the rumored Samsung Galaxy S5.

Release Date

The iPhone 5s was made available in the shelves back in September, while the Samsung Galaxy S5 will be launched sometime in January and will be released in February.

Design

The Apple flagship smartphone is nearly similar to its predecessor, the iPhone 5. It comes with a build comprised of metal and glass which features one of the thinnest and lightest form factors available in the market today. The iPhone 5s is comfortable to hold with one hand and it is extremely pocketable at 122 grams and 7.6 millimeters thin. However, the smartphone lacks a microSD card slot for memory expansion and removable back.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 could come in a cheap, plastic version similar to the Samsung Galaxy S4 or it could include a metal build which Samsung users have been wishing for sometime already. Although there is nothing concrete about it yet at this point, we expect the Samsung Galaxy S5 to sport a much larger screen than the iPhone 5s.

Display

There is nothing new on the iPhone 5s when it comes to the display. Similar to the iPhone 5, it still sports the same 4-inch Retina Display with 1136 x 640 pixel resolution at 326 ppi.

Samsung Galaxy S5 is rumored to have the same 5-inch display like Galaxy S4. The Korean company suggested it will be ready with displays with 2560 x 1440 resolution and 500ppi next year. However, it is still uncertain whether the technology will be seen on the Galaxy S5 or the Note 4, which is rumored for release late next year.

Specs

While there are no major changes in the iPhone 5s' features, the changes were in its industrial hood. It features an enhanced 8MP iSight camera and a brand new A7 processor with 64-bit support. The A7 processor and M7 coprocessor deliver great battery life. A new color palette has been added to the fold as well - gold, gray and silver options were also made available to the Apple fans.

In terms of specs, the Galaxy S5 is expected to compete with the iPhone S5. If rumors were true, then Galaxy S5 will be packed with an impressive ton of RAM in 3GB or 4GB, 16MP camera sensor with autofocus and ISOCELL technology.
