Samsung Galaxy S5 vs Nokia X: Nokia X is a New Android Contender?
Nokia made the big switch to Android announcing a series of handsets during the Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona. The five handsets Nokia announced were all Android-based. According to analysts, the tech company wants to target the lower end market in the Western regions. Likewise, it also wants to be a part of the growing consumer base of Android. Can Nokia go up against top Android players like Samsung?
Stephen Elop, Nokia CEO, described the X series as an approach for the "growth markets." The CEO confirmed that the Nokia X will be seen in all types of markets - though the lower end group of the western markets shows great growth potential. Some analysts think this is a strategy to get market in the developing world.
The Nokia X features an Android operating system offered starting at 89 euros. The device allows users to download both Nokia and Android apps including even a number of Windows services. The company assured the market that it will soon distribute the device worldwide. The focus now, however, is the developing markets.
