Samsung Galaxy S5 Will Be Released One Day Before MWC 2014, Features to Expect and More
Samsung Galaxy S5 release has been on the headlines for quite some time. According to reports, Samsung plans on holding the event one day before the Mobile World Congress. Nonetheless, there are also reports saying Samsung will be announcing the device on the Feb 24. Invites were sent, but there are no clear indications whether the Samsung Galaxy S5 will drop on the specified date. Will Samsung release the device on the 23rd or the 24th?
According blogger Eldar Murtazin, the Samsung Galaxy S5 will be revealed on Feb 23 at 18:00 CST. While it may not hold much for some, the blogger has a good track record for smartphone leaks, features and release dates. Some analysts and sources believe there is a certain amount of credibility to the blogger's post. The blogger leaked the release date of the Samsung Galaxy S4 in the previous year, which is taken by some to add more weight to his leak for the Samsung Galaxy S5.
According to analysts, it is only logical for the Korean tech giant to speed up the release of the Samsung Galaxy S5, as the Samsung Galaxy S4 did not deliver the expected sales. A good head start against competitors, especially Apple, should give Samsung good ground and sales potential. Apple is set to release its iPhone 6 this year. However, reports say that the tech giant plans on releasing the device later this year. This should give Samsung a good lead.
Previously, there were reports about a Samsung executive hinting an MWC 2014 for the device. However, other reports noted another Samsung executive saying officially the release is around the end of April. This puts the announcement period between February to March.
Reported specs for the device include a 5.2-inch 2K Super AMOLED display, 3 GB RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad-core chip or an Exynos chipset. It will also come with a 16-MP camera with ISOCELL technology, 3,000 mAh battery and Android 4.4 KitKat. There are no final details yet whether Samsung will include a fingerprint scanner or iris scanner.
While recent updates from Reuters say that Samsung has distributed invites for a Feb 24 event, still, there is no telling if it's the announcement of the device. People will have to wait whether it would be on the 23rd or the 24th. Either way, the release is just around the corner.
