It seems that Samsung Galaxy S5 may not be an Android smartphone and will snub Android's latest 4.4 KitKat OS as company revealed that it is fostering a relationship with Tizen OS and Firefox OS.

Samsung's Chief Secretary Wonsuk Lee said at an HTML5 conference that the company is working on fostering a relationship between its Tizen OS and Firefox OS. It seems that Samsung is divorcing with Google and would like to break free from Android's chains by looking into other possible mobile software it can pack in its future smartphones.

According to Mr. Lee, since both Tizen and Firefox OS are HTML5 based, apps written for one platform can work on the other. The Firefox OS is expected to be used on entry-levels smartphones and the Tizen OS will be able to work on both low and high end models.

There are whispers that Samsung will compete against Apple's iOS and Google's Android with Tizen-Firefox OS combo. There is no denying that Samsung played a significant part in making Android popular among manufacturers and consumers.

Mr. Lee said that smartphones packing Tizen OS will be release on the first half of 2014. However, Mozilla wants to keep the name of its mobile software Boot2Gecko OS being used on handsets created for OEMs. Thus, Samsung Galaxy S5 may pack a different operating system from its predecessors.

Samsung Galaxy S5 will pack 64-bit processor as Samsung and ARM confirmed last week that it will soon launch a 14nm 64-bit Exynos 6 CPU chips in 2014. The ARM official said that the new processor will be similar to iPhone 5S' 64-bit A7 CPU. This is also what Samsung exec JK Shin said in his statement last September.

Some of the other most probable features to be packed on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 are 16MP ISOCELL camera and 2,560 x 1,440 WQHD and 560 ppi resolution. On Samsung's annual Analyst Day, it announced that its smartphones arriving in 2015 will pack Ultra High Definition 4K displays. Samsung Galaxy S5 will also pack the latest Android 4.4 KitKat OS heralding new Android features.
