Many users loved the Galaxy S4, and of course, they wanted more on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 in 2014. People want another Galaxy S smartphone which is tougher, better and smarter than any other handset in the world, and they made the top ten "we want to see" for the Galaxy S5 and latest works around them.

Design and Material

Plastic marked Samsung mobile devices "cheap" due to the low quality materials used, but the company is going to replace that with premium exterior and components on the Galaxy S5.

Design 3.0 is the term used by Samsung, according to an insider for Galaxy S5 slimmer, sleeker and lighter design which made out of full aluminium chassis. ET News reported as well that the 2014 flagship smartphone will have all-metal chassis, unlike its predecessors.

Processing Power and Multi-tasking Functionality

The iPhone 5S 64-bit A7 processor somehow threatens the Samsung Galaxy S line, which forces the company to develop their own version of 64-bit chipset. Reports reveal that Samsung plans to use Exynos processors on high-end smartphones, while it will use MediaTek on mid-range and low-cost devices in 2014, which means the 64-bit is an Exynos chip.

For the RAM, rumours suggested that the Galaxy S5 will have a slimmer and low-power consuming chip to bring more space for design and less weight on the device. The Galaxy Note 3 already uses 3GB of RAM, and it may be seen as well on the Galaxy S5 smartphone.

Mobile Operating System

Google is soon to launch Android 4.4 KitKat which likely to run Galaxy S5. Android KitKat will bring tons of new features and functionality to make users' life easier and convenient, which makes the next-gen TouchWiz UI better than ever.

Tizen OS is also speculated to run a variant of the Galaxy S5 which could be released to selected regions and may be labelled as the "mid-range" version of its Android counterpart. However, no concrete evidence support Samsung plan on using Tizen for the Galaxy S line.

New Camera Technology

The Galaxy S4 is equipped with 13MP rear camera with tons of new features for camera phone lovers, but Samsung seems not content with it. Rumours point that the 16-megapixel camera on the Galaxy S5 and a CMOS image sensor may be included with it.

In order to match Sony Xperia Z1 and Nokia Lumia 1020, Samsung revealed their new CMOS image sensor called ISOCELL which is currently linked on the Galaxy S5 camera. ISOCELL isolates individual pixels which reduces electrical crosstalk between them to produce higher colour quality, sharper and richer image rendering.

Fingerprint Sensor

The iPhone 5S uses fingerprint scanner to prevent unauthorised access on the device. Some fans wanted to see Samsung to include fingerprint sensor on the Galaxy S5, but the company said to Korean Times that they are not developing anyn that kind of technology at this time for any of its handsets - meaning, they maybe secretly working on it.

Samsung Exclusive Applications

We love the software innovation on the Galaxy S line such as Smart Stay, Air Gesture and S Voice, even though sometimes they can be annoying. But these features caused some owners to complain of short battery life and some sluggishness on response which is something Samsung Galaxy S5 should not have.

Samsung's aim for innovation is awesome, but many would like get better application optimisation among mobile devices for more battery life, stable performance and lighter feeling on the TouchWiz UI.

Battery Life

Bigger battery pack does not mean more power on a mobile device, and putting more mAh on Galaxy S5 isn't the answer. The HTC One features 2300 mAh but keeps on struggling against iPhone 5's 1440 mAh battery which lasts the entire day.

Software plays a major role on the battery life, and if the OS isn't optimised for power, even a 3000 mAh will be out in less than 24 hours. The Galaxy S5 is rumoured to feature 3000 or 4000 mAh battery pack and low-power consuming RAM to sustain at least 24 hours of full functionality. Android 4.4 KitKat will also play a part on improved battery standby time and better network coverage.

Multimedia Speakers

The HTC One and Sony Xperia Z brandished multimedia experience through audio output via external speakers or headset. The Samsung Galaxy S4 didn't have any dashing offer on its speakers unlike the BoomSound of HTC One and XLoud of Xperia Z.

Samsung should boost the external speaker experience on Galaxy S5 with other audio enhancers such as Bang and Olufsen to match upcoming smartphones with dedicated sound engines.

Built-In Projector

Maximum processing speed, upgraded multi-tasking functionality, great Samsung entertainment applications and HD videos require one thing for full enjoyment - a projector. The Galaxy Beam is missed by critics because of its built-in projector which can be used for presentations and video playback.

Even though Samsung features HDMI, wireless content sharing, etc, these features require a Smart TV or another output device to be used. It would be good to see an HD video projection on your wall coming right out of your Galaxy S5.

3D Display Screen

Smartphones today are getting sharper displays due to high pixel density and that trend will eventually grow tired on its own. 3D should become the next level, and if a smartphone features 3D, it shouldn't require any glasses.

Samsung already started using dual camera functionality on the Galaxy S4, and it is only a matter of time before 3D display can be used on the phone itself. Moreover, application developers are now engaging with 3D games for Android, and Samsung should follow through with 3D screen display soon.

Samsung is surrounded by a huge wish list on the Galaxy S5, but once it is out and it delivers half of the wish list, expect such a steep price on it. So before 2014 begins and Galaxy S5 arrives, start saving money before 2013 ends for the greatest Android flagship smartphone ever.
