Samsung Galaxy S5 Won't Feature Optical Image Stabilisation Due to Lack of Component Supplies?
Samsung Galaxy S5 may not feature an optical image stabilisation on its camera which is apparently found on Galaxy S4 Zoom. Samsung seems to be having difficulty getting suppliers to manufacture enough components. Is the Samsung Galaxy S5 going to feature a different camera lens?
Optical Image Stabilisation Missing?
Optical Image Stabilisation may not be featured on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 in 2014 due to reported issues of suppliers having difficulty on manufacturing required components.
ETNews from South Korea reported that the Samsung Galaxy S5 might miss OIS technology on its camera with supply issues from manufacturers. Samsung's huge amount of unit production for each flagship units may be the culprit behind the lack OIS feature on the Galaxy S5 as suppliers may not meet the deadline.
In addition, recent reports revealed that Samsung is looking on producing its own camera modules instead to support optical image stabilisation on the Galaxy S5. If unfortunate, Samsung may add the said camera feature to the Galaxy Note 4 or the first Galaxy F smartphone instead.
Competition on Optical Image Stabilisation
Major phone manufacturers have adapted the use of optical image stabilisation feature on their current flagship smartphones. HTC and LG featured OIS on their flagship devices such as One and G2 which helps a lot with camera's rendering of images and videos.
Optical image stabilisation greatly reduces blur on images captured by the camera and helps stabilise image captures, while the device is in motion such as caused by shaking hands.
Rumoured Samsung Galaxy S5 Features
Lately, the Galaxy S5 has been reported with several hardware improvements such as fingerprint scanner which may be ready for mass production in 2014.
Another leaked information includes eye scanning technology in place of the fingerprint sensor if the said feature remains unavailable by next year. The Samsung Galaxy S5 is under internal debate and discussion of which hardware features are best to include based on probable supply.
With OIS or not, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is set to be released as early as January 2014 which may appear at CES or MWC next year.
