Samsung Galaxy S6 Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update release imminent
Since the past few weeks, rumours have been swirling that Samsung is working on releasing Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for its flagship devices. Reports are now indicating that the Android 6.0.1 update is in the works for Samsung Galaxy S6 and it is likely to release soon.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 was previously speculated to get Android 6.0 build in January 2016 along with Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge+ flagships. However, by citing a Vietnamese source, Phone Arena has reported that the aforementioned handsets along with Galaxy Note 5 are going to receive the Android 6.0 update in first quarter of 2016.
According to G for Games, the South Korean giant is currently testing the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow build for Galaxy S6 with model number SM-G920F. It is the unlocked international edition of Samsung Galaxy S6.
Since the Android 6.0 release is imminent for Galaxy S6, it will be one of the first handsets across different smartphone brands to get the latest Android build. The publication has stated that the update is likely to start in Poland. In the past LG had also released Android 6.0 first to LG G4 owners in Poland.
The Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow build is the same update that has been already rolled out Nexus devices recently. The new build is said to be minor update compared to Android 6.0. It comes with 200+ new emoji and the developers have brought back the “Do Not Disturb until” feature. Rumors are rife that Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow is the build that will be released for Galaxy S6 Duos, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5 in Q1 2016.
Some of the older Samsung handsets that will get Android 6.0 in Q1 2016 are Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note 4 Duos and Galaxy Note Edge, Galaxy S5, Galaxy S5 LTE-A, Galaxy S5 Neo. Samsung is expected to release the latest Android build for Galaxy Alpha in Q2 2016. Tablets like Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 and Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 are also scheduled to get Android 6.0 upgrade in the same quarter.
