Samsung Galaxy S6 Likely to Boast of Metal Case, Curved Display on Early 2015 Release Date
Samsung is likely to push for an earlier Galaxy S6 release date in the initial months of 2015, lacing the device with killer specs and features that are absent from the Galaxy S5.
Metal frame
Early rumours on the Galaxy S6 point to a metallic frame for the device, which according to Sammy watchers was hinted first with the release of the iPhone-like Galaxy Alpha and by the upcoming Galaxy A3/A4.
Now a new phone concept from 3G.co.uk (viewable here) seems to support the belief that Samsung is heading to the right route come next year in going completely metal for the GS5 replacement.
A clip of the handset render envisions the next Galaxy flagship in a super-slim profile that is accentuated by its premium metal wrapping, likely replicating the unibody build that Apple first popularized with the iPhone models and adopted by HTC with One M7 and M8.
In the same mock up, the designer chose to simply mirror the existing rumoured specs for the Galaxy S6 - bannered by a QHD display panel in 2K screen resolution, a full octa-core CPU with the TouchWiz-skinned Android 5.0 Lollipop running the show.
However, a metallic Galaxy S6 next year may not come as easy as expected as the body design and the material could serious issues for Samsung, which according to Phone Arena is pretty much the cellular connectivity issue that plagued Apple's iPhone 4 rollout a few years back.
Curved display
Less problematic and likely to become a real Galaxy S6 killer feature is curved display, which Samsung has successfully delivered on in earlier device models and the latest proof of which is the Galaxy Note Edge.
But while Note Edge has a bent display on the right side of the front panel, the GS6 will make it two - flanking the device on both left and right sides, a report from The Korea Herald has indicated. The Korean paper pointed to IHD Technology senior analyst Jerry Kang as source of its information.
"The Galaxy S6 to be released next year will feature a 'dual-edged' screen which is curved on the right and left sides," Kang was quoted by the same report as saying.
The Korea Herald report, however, is vague on the matter of release strategy for the Galaxy S6 - like if the dual-edge build will represent the major design for the device or a regular edition such as the concept shown above will be geared for mass produce and distribution.
Speculations are rife that Samsung will attempt to stave off its sequential sales declines in the past few quarters by going all out for an earlier Galaxy S6 release date, likely within the first quarter of 2015, a move that will serve too as correction for missteps that came with the Galaxy S4 and S5 rollouts.
