Samsung Galaxy S6 Release Roundup: Metal Build, 2K Display, UFS and New Snapdragon
As the year ends, Samsung's major flagship release, specifically the Samsung Galaxy S6, approaches. Best known for going ahead of rival Apple in releases, Samsung follows a timeline allowing for first or second quarter releases. Can the Galaxy S6 be a killer device enough to challenge Apple and emerging giant Xiaomi?
It has been a rough year for Samsung with earnings reports citing declining sales while analysts continuing to predict the threat of Chinese player Xiaomi. Nonetheless, it appears the Korean tech giant may have hope as the market continues to anticipate its flagships. Lately, Samsung Galaxy S6 details have started emerging with expected killer features in tow. According to previous reports, the Samsung Galaxy S6 release is imminent under the Project Zero name.
Stuff.tv hinted that a number of sources claim Samsung's move to creating "more premium build" for the Galaxy S6. This can either be a super-advanced material graphene combination or an aluminum casing. Whereas the graphene build may appear bold it can also push the production costs up. Analysts are not too sure whether Samsung can shoulder thus the probable decision to metal. This is better than plastic as most consumers and industry experts say.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 has already featured a 5.1-inch display offering 1080p resolution; AMOLED technology. This offers a vibrant display but one which many doubt Samsung will settle for. LG has already released a phone offering 2K screen. The LG 3 comes with 2560 x 1440 pixels thus the pressure on Samsung to do more. The Galaxy Note 4 features a 2k functionality supporting Samsung's capabilities in delivering producing 2k displays.
ET News claims another ideal feature to be included in the Galaxy S6: UFS technology. This means people can expect a NAND flash technology soon offering faster transfer speeds. Xiaomi is also poised to release a phone with the same capability. Slash Gear reports that the Galaxy S6 may come with two types of processors: Exynos 7420 for outside United States and Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 for inside.
