Samsung already rolled out the Android 5.1 Lollipop software for Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge but users are divided on inconsistency of the memory management. Some users find the new update improved the overall user interface while others felt like it gotten all worse.

Samsung released the official Android 5.1 Lollipop software for two flagship smartphones which are Galaxy S6 And Galaxy S6 Edge. According to SamMobile, the new software included several improvements on the camera app, battery life, App Drawer and more.
- Camera app on Galaxy S6 received the manual exposure control on the viewfinder, two features for saving RAW images and settings ISO to 50 requiring third-party apps and user interface changes on the app itself.
- More options on the Battery Optimisation section under the Battery Usage Stats such as uninstalling unused apps and Auto Stop for listed apps to hold activities after ten minutes.
- Calculator app has now an in-app rotate button, alphabetical order on the App Drawer and controls to disable the S Finder and Quick Connect on the Notification Shade toggles.
- Motion Effect on the Wallpaper settings for Home Screen wallpaper available when using TouchWiz default launcher.
- Several minor changes include a bigger Theme Store button, faster and smoother animation when opening the App Drawer and more consistent performance.
Experiences Of Users After Updating To Android 5.1 Lollipop On Galaxy S6 And Galaxy S6 Edge
While Android 5.1 Lollipop delivered several major and some minor improvements to the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, it seems some users found out inconsistent performance of their devices after the software update. Recent reports from SamMobile revealed that users who updated Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge to Android 5.1 Lollipop are having different experiences wherein some find the user interface faster and smoother while others felt more stutter and lag-filled performance.
The site also claimed that the update might not be aggressive enough to fix the memory management issue on both smartphones. Memory management issue before the update are related on how the device responds such longer loading certain apps such as WhatsApp and Facebook which stays in the background and constant reloading time on the Chrome Browser, when going back to the previous page. There is no news yet on when Samsung will release a new software to address a fix for the performance issue.
