Latest reports reveal that Samsung Electronics is now working on two Galaxy S7 smartphones in different screen sizes and shapes. The year 2016 will see the launch of a 5.2-inch flat screen and 5.5-inch curved screen displays under a project called HERO.

Unlike the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge which sport similar display size of 5.1-inch, Samsung will bring different forms of Galaxy S7 in 2016, reports ET News. The report states that the company is working on two smartphones under the codenames of HERO1 and HERO2. Previously it was rumoured that the handset will feature a 5.7-inch screen size like the Galaxy S6 edge+.

The change in strategy is speculated to combat Apple`s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus launched with 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch screen displays respectively. There are high possibilities that smartphones will sport pressure sensitive display technology like Apple`s 3D Force Touch.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 handsets are also tipped to sport Quad HD Super AMOLED display. Both the variants are expected to be powered by both Qualcomm`s Snapdragon 820 SoC and Samsung`s own Exynos 8890 chipset for different markets. Thus, the Galaxy S7 will actually be available in four models depending on the region or market in which the handset will be launched.

The rumoured Galaxy S7 is anticipated to feature a massive 4 GB of RAM and expandable storage. However, the bigger curved variant may not house a microSD card slot for memory expansion.

Samsung Electronics will probably commence mass production of the device as soon as February 2016. Initial production will run for manufacturing as many as 5 million units which will be split into 3.3 million for the S7 and 1.6 million for the S7 edge , as reported by The Verge.
