Samsung plans to focus more on improving the hardware of its upcoming Galaxy S7 range rather than highlighting design changes.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 will have improvements in processing speed, performance and picture quality because of the latest processor, new DRAMs with expanded storage and new OLEDs, according to a report in Korean Times.

The successor of the Galaxy S6 is also expected to be released with a few new features on board. The report mentioned the S7 will have a ‘little overhaul’ in its design that will almost make it similar to that of Galaxy S6 and Note 5.

The new Snapdragon 820 processor will ensure faster processing and quicker charging. There are reports the new chip might overheat the device, however. The Korean tech major is reportedly trying to sort out the issue and solve the problem.

Samsung is apparently trying to patch the chipset with the microprocessor control program, according to Techno Buffalo. If the problem persists, the company will consider using an internal radiating pipe to reduce the heat.

Qualcomm, however, came out to disprove the overheating rumours. It claims the chipset is able to meet all the thermal specifications of major OEMs, according to a story in NDTV Gadgets.

In 2016, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor is expected to power most of the flagship devices by leading smartphone manufacturers, including LG, HTC and Xiaomi. It’s believed Samsung will launch the Galaxy S7 with a different processor in different parts of the world. The Korean giant might launch its next generation Galaxy S series at the Samsung Unpacked 2016 scheduled for Feb. 21.
