Samsung Galaxy S8 leaks confirm new fingerprint scanner position; Bixby button & display details revealed
A Weibo leak has revealed two cases that reportedly belong to the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus. They more or less confirm the position of the fingerprint scanner as reported earlier by reliable tipster Evan Blass. In fact, a number of case leaks have been reported though none of them matched the leaked images shared by Blass. Now, the Weibo leak has shown cases for the 5.7-inch and a 6.2-inch Galaxy S8 smartphones. Both the handsets are expected to feature a Super AMOLED curved display with a screen resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels.
According to PhoneArena, the Weibo leak, reported by MySmartPrice, appears legitimate because of the placement of a cut out for a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. It is place to the right of the camera. This layout is exactly the same as that of what Blass shared. The left cut out is large enough to accommodate both the flash and the camera. However, the cut out for the fingerprint scanner does not look big enough to allow a finger to press the button. If Samsung decides to place the scanner to the place as shown, it could be a bad decision.
The place is difficult for a finger to reach easily. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus will either be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset or an Exynos 8895 SoC, depending on the region. Other expected features include 4/6GB RAM, Type-C USB ports, 3,250 mAh battery, 12MP rear camera and 5MP selfie camera. None of these specs have been confirmed by Samsung yet. During the MWC 2017, Samsung will show a short video and fans will get a 60-second glimpse of the highly-anticipated smartphone that will take on Apple iPhone 8.
The latest Samsung Galaxy S8 leak also points out an important aspect of the smartphone, reports SlashGear. The borders around the edges of the cases denote that the screen may not go all the way down to the sides. It is widely believed that the Galaxy S8 smartphone will sport a 90 percent screen with Samsung reducing bezels from top and bottom. Moreover, a cut out on the right side of the case shows a dedicated button for Samsung’s personal virtual assistant, Bixby. It takes the place of the Lock/Unlock button.
The Lock/Unlock button has been shifted with the fingerprint scanner at the back. The Galaxy S8 handset is expected to be released on March 29. Stay tuned on IBT AU for more updates on the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 smartphones.
