Samsung Galaxy S8 update: Lots happening before the March 29 reveal
If latest reports are to be believed, Samsung just cannot wait to release the Galaxy S8 in the market. Pre-orders may start a few days ahead of in-store launch. The move is reportedly for the company’s home market.
The South Korean tech giant has also decided to reveal subsidy plans for customers earlier than usual. These plans will be unveiled during the pre-order period April 7-17. Pre-orders will start shipping on April 18 and the planned launch date is from April 21-28. Samsung will be offering Korean buyers a nationwide hands-on event for the phone once it becomes official on March 29. The company may also adopt similar measure for launch in other countries. Fans expect the company to go massive with the launch events.
Samsung needs to neutralise threats from LG G6, a highly advanced smartphone that has recently launched in Korea, and has already become very popular. Some experts believe that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will be more expensive than even Apple iPhone 7. With only a week left for the official announcement, Samsung is teasing its fans with video ads that may also hold some very important clues as regards the device. One of the ads resembles an earlier TV commercial that the company aired much ahead of its launch, writes Gizbot.
There are animated dots moving through seven holes and finally stopping at the eighth. However, the new ad additionally shows a guy standing by a window and he starts walking towards a door. The moment he opens the door, it leads him to space with planets in the vicinity and flying astronauts. The ad has led fans to believe that Samsung could be offering the VR headset with the Galaxy S8 smartphones. However, some are of the opinion that instead of VR, it’s AR that the ad is teasing.
The smartphone along with its Plus variant is expected to be released in seven colours. Meanwhile, a new short video has surfaced online that showcases the Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone’s home screen and front and back. According to PhoneArena, the leak seems pretty legitimate. The “new video show off working Galaxy S8 unit” proves the rounded corners, minimal top and bottom bezels, fingerprint scanner at the back and face recognition cameras up top.
The Galaxy S8 smartphone shown in the video seems to be sporting a new interface. Stay tuned on IBT AU for more updates on Samsung Galaxy handsets and their specs and features.
