Samsung Galaxy S8 vs Google Pixel 2: Things Google needs to introduce to tackle Samsung
If recent reports are to be believed, Google is already working on its next flagship, the Google Pixel 2, to beat competitors such as Apple and Samsung. Samsung is now warming up to a grand Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Edge launch. The devices are said to sport jaw-dropping specs and top-class features. Even though the Google Pixel and Pixel XL are the leading Android devices in the market, the Galaxy S8 phones may turn the tide in Samsung’s favour. The pressure is on Google as the Samsung flagships are just weeks away from release.
According to Express, a report has revealed that the Google Pixel 2 will feature a waterproof design for the first time. This is a must as both Apple iPhone 8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 devices will feature waterproof designs. Like the Google Pixel phones, the Pixel 2 may also be unveiled in October and will sport better processor and more memory and storage. Various sources suggest that Google is testing its device with various processors, including Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 chipset and other specialised hardware by Intel.
As far as camera specs are concerned, the Google Pixel 2’s camera is being significantly upgraded to make it perfect even for low light conditions. Even though Google may stick to providing lower megapixels than Samsung Galaxy S series handsets, including Galaxy S8, it will more than compensate with exciting features. The biggest drawback of Google Pixel devices was their pocket-burning prices. However, as per 9To5Google, a budge-friendly Google Pixel 2 will also be released as Google is looking to increase sales.
However, the Google Pixel 2 budget handset will have less-impressive hardware due to the lowered price. According to Tech Times, the Google Pixel 2 will be at least US$50 (AU$67) more expensive than the current generation Pixels. The Samsung Galaxy S8 will also carry a hefty price tag.
