The Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone is already a rage, set to be released on April 28, though there are many other Galaxy devices that are expected this year. There have been many developments on the Galaxy front. A new leak from China suggests that the South Korean tech giant will release a foldable smartphone, Galaxy X, before it releases Galaxy Note 8. This foldable smartphone is expected to come out in Q3 of this year.

Moreover, Samsung has also stated that the Note 8 smartphone will also hit stores this year, despite the Galaxy Note 7 global recall. It is also looking to sell revised Note 7s at a lowered price. Fans believe the China leak is legitimate, as it has reportedly originated from a member of the Samsung Galaxy Club in China. The leakster, who goes by the Twitter handle mmddj_China, has claimed that Note 8 is arriving in Q4 and Galaxy X in Q3. Rumours about the foldable device have been active since early 2016.

Earlier it was thought that the phone will be unveiled along with the S8, but that fell flat. The Galaxy X foldable is reportedly being developed under the codename “Project Valley.” The smartphone apparently resembles a normal phone when closed. However, it can fold out to double its size so that users can use it as a phablet too, reports Trusted Reviews. It will join Samsung’s flagship range along with the S8. As none of these rumours have been verified yet, it is advisable to take these with a pinch of salt.

A good bet on the release of the Samsung Galaxy X foldable flagship is the IFA Berlin event. It was earlier reported that the company will release two variants of the foldable display phone, Galaxy X1 and X1+. The basic model of the smartphone could have a 5-inch display and 4K resolution, reports ValueWalk via GSMArena. A “diamond PenTile subpixel arrangement” is expected in the phone. Some sources claim that the device could be turned into a seven or 8-inch tablet.

The Samsung Galaxy X foldable smartphone could be using Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 processor that also powers the Galaxy S8. A dual-camera setup and microSD slots will also be incorporated. The first prototypes may be unveiled anytime now. There are various other smartphone companies who are venturing into the foldable screen technology. Thus, there will be stiff competition from these other players. Stay tuned on IBT AU for more updates on Samsung devices.
