Finally, Samsung has officially announced the arrival of two Galaxy A series smartphones, the Galaxy A3 and the Galaxy A5. However, the Galaxy A7 is still under wraps. Both A3 and A5 are mid-range devices available in a wide range of colours. They sport a sleek finish, thanks to their all-metal unibody. The Samsung Galaxy A3 and the Galaxy A3 are marketed as the slimmest smartphones from the manufacturer to date.

Samsung Galaxy A3 Specifications

According to Samsung Tomorrow, the Samsung Galaxy A3 has a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display screen with 540 x 960 pixels. It is 6.9 mm thick and it measures 130.1 x 65.5 mm. It weighs 110.3 g.

The Galaxy A3 is powered with 1.2 GHz quad-core processor that is supported by 1 GB of RAM. It comes with an internal storage support of 16 GB. It also features an external memory card storage.

The device's rear camera is 8 MP whereas the front-facing camera is 5 MP.

Galaxy A3 will come preloaded with Android v4.4 KitKat. It offers plenty of connectivity features such as Wi-Fi 802.11/b/g/n/ac, LTE (Cat. 4), and Bluetooth v4.0, GPS, GLONASS, microUSB 2.0, DLNA and NFC. It will be shipped with 1900 mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy A5 Specifications

The Samsung Galaxy A5 sports 5-inch Super AMOLED display that supports HD resolution. It is slimmer than the Galaxy A3 as its thickness is only 6.7 mm, which is similar with that of Samsung Galaxy Alpha smartphone. It measures 139.3 x 69.7 mm.

The handset is powered by a quad-core processor that works at 1.2 GHz, which is complemented with 2 GB of RAM. The internal storage available with the Galaxy A5 is 16 GB, and it also features a microSD slot.

There is a 13 MP camera on the back of the device and a 5 MP camera on the front. It also features Android v4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box and has numerous connectivity options like Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, LTE (Cat. 4), Bluetooth v4.0, GPS, GLONASS, microUSB 2.0 and NFC. It is housed with 2300 mAh battery.

AnandTech claims that Samsung has not revealed whether both handsets would feature Snapdragon or Exynos SoCs. The pricing of the Galaxy A3 and the Galaxy A5 have not yet been revealed. GSMArena states that both handsets are going to roll out in this month in selected markets like China.
