Samsung Pay comes to Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch in 2016
It will use Near Field Communication for transactions
Samsung Pay will come to Samsung Gear S2 in 2016 but no exact date has been revealed. Samsung intended to launch the app this November but nothing materialized. Seems, we’ll have to wait some more for the mobile payment service to get to the smartwatch.
Samsung didn’t make any official announcement about the delay but news broke on Twitter when a Samsung insider responded to a customer’s complaint on why the service didn’t appear on Gear S2 even though November’s ended, reports Slashgear.
Samsung didn’t specify a launch date but clearly stated Samsung Pay will arrive “sometime” next year. Seems, the wait is almost over and Samsung Pay will finally make its way to Gear S2.
The little gadget will use Near Field Communication for transactions since it lacks MST technology. Therefore, the Samsung Pay will automatically connect with a credit card terminal for transactions via NFC.
MST technology allows a smartwatch to mimic card swipe actions, thus copying details in a credit card while making a transaction through a mobile payment service. MST is on any Samsung smartphone with Samsung Pay. Samsung designers , however, haven’t been able to integrate MST with smartwatches.
The Gear S2 has likeable features and its stainless steel body looks slim on your wrist. You can customize the watch face to any colour and style and even change the band suitable for various occasions.
