Samsung Releases Ultra-Thin 12-Inch Ativ Book 9 Challenging 12-Inch Retina MacBook Air
Samsung is not stepping down against Apple's laptop line as it just announced the Ativ Book 9 laptop computer. The computer will be released this 2015 posing possibly a big challenge to Apple's MacBook Air series. The upcoming Ultrabook will be discussed further at the CES 2015 in Las Vegas.
According to Trusted Reviews, the striking thing about the laptop line is that Samsung claims a number of specs expected from Apple's highly speculated MacBook line. For instance, the Ativ Book 9 will come with a 12.2-inch display offering resolution up to 2560 x 600 pixels. It will also have an excellent outdoor mode allowing people to adjust the brightness as high as 700 nits.
Samsung also went ahead with the Intel Broadwell Core processors, letting the company build a fanless version for the first time. This supports previous claims that the next generation of Ultrabooks can be produced with fans at the cost of little power. Strikingly, it is also one of the most anticipated features of the MacBook Air. Other specs of the device include 0.46 inches thickness and 2.1 lbs weight. It is lighter and thinner compared to Apple's 11-inch MacBook Air.
Samsung claims its Ativ Book 9 will run on Windows 8.1 to be released Q1 2015. It will be offered in two models: 4 GB RAM model and 128 GB SSD model.
Cult of Mac previously reported that Apple's 12-inch Retina Macbook Air should also come around early 2015. The device is highly anticipated because it the last of Apple's devices to receive the Retina treatment.
More importantly, it will be first time the company will be offering a hybrid of 11-inch and 13-inch MacBooks. Apple will reportedly offer the laptop in three color variants similar to the iPhone series: space grey, silver and gold. Apple has not released any details about the device unlike Samsung.
