Slaying Apple's iPad lineup is a no-secret agenda of Samsung and another attempt to realise that goal is the rumoured Nexus 10-clone tablet from the Asian tech giant, known for now as Samsung Roma.

It is widely believed that the full-sized tablet will showcase much of the specs that Samsung had put together when it was tasked by Google to come up with the critically acclaimed Nexus 10.

The slate will of course display significant bump ups from the Google-Samsung collaboration - likely rolling out with a dual-core Exynos processor that spins away at a maximum speed of 1.7GHz with probably 2GB of RAM.

Numerous blog reports have speculated that the Roma will sport a 10.1-inch screen with a 2560 x 1600 resolution and a pixel density of 299ppi. Powering the slate is a 9000mAh battery.

The mix of camera features is also high-end: 5MP on the rear and 1.9MP on front with powerful shooting applications thanks to the combined prowess of Android JellyBean 4.2 and the latest TouchWiz skin from Samsung.

The Roma is seen to debut with the latest tablet offerings of Samsung, which reports said will be introduced via the IFA 2013 event in Berlin on September.

However, GSM Arena has reported that the new tablet will be unpacked much sooner. The report did not specify a date but the tone suggests the Roma will come out of the box a little earlier than expected.

If anything, Samsung is gearing the new tablet as a solid iPad 5 challenger, which analysts said will have a late 2013 release date.

Apple reportedly revamped the iPad 5 profile, basing its new form factor on the bestselling iPad Mini - thin, lean and with little bezel on the left and right margins.

Once it is out, the 9.7-inch iPad 5 will showcase the new iOS 7 muscles plus the might coming from its A7 computing chip, analysts said.
