Works are reportedly underway for Samsung to release a 6-inch phablet that boasts of a 500ppi pixel density, suggesting that the Galaxy Note 3 will have a superb display screen specs on release date.

The new technology is being developed by Japanese firm Sharp, according to Korean news site ETNews.com. Sharp is partly-owned by Samsung on the strength of the latter's 10 per cent stake with the company.

Sharp is actually racing against LG Display in perfecting the screen technology, indicating that it is highly possible an LG Optimus G Pro with the same display prowess will come out soon.

Or Apple's iPhone 6 will sport the same screen resolution of up to 2560 x 1600 that easily defeats its Retina display rendition of 2048 x 1536. Note that both Samsung and LG are manufacturing partners of Apple in producing the Retina-laced iPad Mini 2 and iPad 5 this year.

While the Retina-beating screen technology is a welcome feature for the Note 3, it appears that it will not be ready until next year, the same report said.

Previous reports have indicated that Samsung will release the third-gen phablet September this year though there is a slim chance that the device will be unveiled on June 20. The likelihood is Samsung will reserve the technology for the Galaxy Note 4.

Having a 1600p panel for the Note 3 would have been coup for Samsung as it will give a huge lead to the device over its close rivals.

With a massive 5000ppi on its 6-inch screen, the Note 3 would match the same clear resolution displayed by high-end notebooks this year, among them the Google Chromebook and Apple's MacBook Pro, GBM added on its report.

The same display panel will allow Note 3 buyers enjoy crystal-clear images, read e-books with more eye-friendly text rendering and watch video clips that exceeds the current Full HD standard.

The same technology will likely make the Galaxy Note 3 and other phablets as the better option over the 7-inch tablet class, in terms of immersive screen display experience, experts said.
