Samsung could soon be launching an all new premium flagship smartphone called the "Galaxy F." The new phone is rumoured to come in a metal body replacing the plastic body tradition at the company.

The report of the new smartphone came from etnews. The specs of the phone in the report include an Octa-core processor and a 16 MP camera in a metal body. The camera will have CMOS image sensor and image stabiliser, according to the report.

The operating system on board the smartphone is reported to be the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. But this being a premium smartphone, it is speculated that by the time of the launch it will have the latest Android 4.4 KitKat.

The screen size of the new device is not known but the report speculates it to be 5 inches. The display is speculated to be a flexible OLED display. The company has recently announced a smartphone with a curved display in a plastic body by October.

Many of the premium smartphones from competitors like Apple Sports a metal body, the plastic body of Samsung devices have been a target of negative feedback from customers. If the company were to launch this device in a metal body, it could help address some of these concerns of its customers.

A plastic body does have its advantages, however. The battery is removable in a plastic body phone, unlike a metal bodied phone. It would be interesting to note if Samsung will be willing to jump on to the metal body bandwagon.

The other concern would be the cost. The metal body feels nice in the hands, but could be heavy on the pocket. Samsung will have to get the manufacturing act together to bring a reliable metal body at competitive rates.

There have been concerns on the slowing down of growth in the sales of smartphones, recently. But the sales of smartphones in the premium segment are taking off, according to analysts. Apple recently launched the premium iPhone 5S and the budget iPhone 5C. The sales of the premium phone outpaced that of the budget phone.
