Samsung’s New Camera Phone is the 16MP Galaxy S4 Zoom with Jelly Bean
Following the release of its new flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung has indicated that it will issue two variants namely the Galaxy S4 Mini and the Galaxy S4 Active. Now a fourth version is reportedly on its way, to be called Galaxy S4 Zoom.
Samsung fans are getting not only scaled-down and ruggedized makes of the quad-core Android handset but also an edition that functions as a premium camera phone that pretty much assumes the form-factor of the Mini GS4, having a 4.3-inch screen size, according to SamMobile.
The Zoom's wow-factor, however, rests on its camera sensor - a 16MP chip that promises the ability to capture crisp images and clips in any given lighting ambiance. The device is expected to take advantage of the cool camera features and apps that Samsung had unveiled with the GS4.
Aside from displaying specs such as qHD Super AMOLED, 8GB of internal memory plus expansion capability of up to 64GB, the GS4 Zoom is endowed with a host a connectivity options, making it a snapper that readily accommodates social media sharing.
Samsung is likely to release its new camera phone by July at the latest with Jelly Bean 4.2.2.
But folks at MobiLeaks can hardly wait so they came out with a render that they claim will be powered by either a dual-core or a quad-core CPU, which could also be a choice between Exynos or Snapdragon.
Notable on the MobiLeaks concept is the slim profile that incredibly accommodates a retractable camera lens similar to that of the Samsung Galaxy Camera. How this engineering marvel is to be realised remains a mystery though.
The GS4 Zoom would be a standout camera phone as it reportedly will offer optical zoom capability as oppose to the optical zoom normally offers by rival smartphones, Gotta Be Mobile said in a report.
If indeed the GS4 Zoom is for real, it is likely to replicate the 21X optical zoom found on the Galaxy Camera, the same report said, making this particular GS4 flavour a tough competitor for Nokia's PureView enabled handsets.
