Samsung’s North American Smartphone Web Traffic Leads Phablet Market By 77%, While Apple iPhone 6 Plus Is Gaining Traction
The year 2014 has not been very kind to Samsung when compared to other top OEMs. But the South Korean conglomerate does have a reason or two to smile. A recent report points out that, customers still prefer the Goliath-like phones/phablets of Samsung, when compared to other models from various manufacturers. Adding a cherry on top, Samsung's phablets reportedly have better reach than the Apple iPhone 6 Plus.
Chitika, the well-known online advertising network, has analysed the smartphone/phablet traffic input pertaining to North America, for devices with 5-inch or more display size and has reported the results. Going by the analysis, Samsung has emerged as "America's phablet king," despite the fact that the recently released Apple iPhone 6 Plus is gaining traction, according to BGR.
It is worth noting that Samsung has quite a bunch of device options available in the display size category of 5-inch plus screens. Therefore, it is not very surprising that the gigantic screen preferring crowd brings in 77 percent to Samsung's North American smartphone web traffic, says Chitika. Meanwhile, the site also points out that the current usage statistics predicts competitive marketplace with many OEMs striking gold with the introduction of gigantic displays.
Chitika's pictorial representation of the web traffic from various devices clearly points out that vast majority of Samsung's traffic comes from the Galaxy S4 and S5, the note-worthy flagships from 2013 and 2014, respectively. Furthermore, the much-bigger Galaxy Note 3 is apparently the most widely used phablet, falling on the 5.5-inch plus display category, whereas the Note 2 amassed a respectable 6.0 percent traffic. And the Note 3 still holds 14 percent of all North American phablet traffic, specific to early November.
On the other hand, Apple's 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus amounted to 3.9 percent of the phablet traffic in early November. Surprisingly, the Motorola Droid Ultra's traffic is relatively more than the Apple device at 4.0 percent. Moreover, the LG G2 and G3 amassed 4.3 and 2.8 percent, respectively. And Google's Nexus 5 holds 2.4 percent of the web traffic share. But then, the recently released Galaxy Note 4 totalled only 2.1 percent of the phablet traffic in the same time period.
