After two of Kink.com performers, Cameron Bay and Rod Daily, were confirmed four months ago as HIV positive, the San Francisco-based porn Web company has found a new profit centre that does not expose their talents to sexually transmitted diseases.
The new way is via private adult web cam shows that Kink.com auctions. They discovered the income potential when their porn director earned $42,000 in just one hour.
Maitresse Madeline earned that amount by holding a private 60-minute webcam show with an Australian viewer, presumably a man, as the generous viewer, reported ZDNET.
The tech Web site noted that it is the highest amount paid for a one-hour live adult show. Kink.com held a special two-week auction, which was a first also for the porn Web site, to test a new format for adult entertainment after it relaunched its webcam division recently.
The Aussie viewer won the auction and beat three other bidders who were all offering thousands of dollars for the privilege of a 60-minute webcam show from the San Francisco-based maitresse. Kink.com, a 17-year-old online porn firm, knew it had a good business profit model when the bids breached the $10,000 mark, said Michael Stabile, spokesman of the company.
The $42,000 payment cleared on Thursday, so the Aussie bid winner got the one-hour "live custom BDSM sexual encounter" with Ms Madeline through webcam as well as email address and a promise to keep their contact ongoing. He also got a one-year VIP membership to all Kink.com Web sites, autographed pictures of the maitresse, an HD record of the precious 60-minutes encounter and the props she used during the show.
She said she will work with other BDSM performers on more interactive auctions in the future that would feature a range of erotic services such as performances, pantyhose auctions and BDSM specialties, including chastity keyholding services.
An expert estimated industry of the adult webcam industry between $1.5 and $2 billion annually. Popular models earn up to $40,000 a month, although that pales in comparison to the $42,000 that Ms Madeline earned in just 60 minutes.
