Sandra Bullock has finally opened up about her painful divorce. The “Gravity” star has admitted that she felt “permanently broken” after her marriage to motorcycle builder Jesse James ended after five years.

The 49-year-old actress thought she was in a happy marriage with the 44-year-old Discovery Channel star up until she learned about her husband’s infidelity. She had been thanking and declaring his love for him every time she received an award for her acting prowess for her role in “The Blind Side” in March 2010, unaware that a scandal would break out in just a few days.

A few women have claimed that they had an affair with James during Bullock’s marriage to him, prompting the A-list star to cancel out several promotional events for her film. She has filed for divorce after a month, and the actress has limited her public appearances since then.

“I’ve been on the floor and I’ve been heartbroken,” she told UK paper The Mirror. “I didn’t know how I was going to stand up. But I just gave it time.”

But now, Bullock is in top form yet again, all thanks to the new man in her life – her adopted son Louis.

“You don’t think it will pass when you’re in the middle of it, but it does. I’m so lucky to have what I have. I have a beautiful child and friends and family I adore.”

Bullock and James had started the adoption process years prior, and Louis, who was born in January 2010 in New Orleans, started living with them in the same month. They just chose to keep quiet about his adoption. However, when the couple separated, Bullock decided to adopt Louis as a single parent instead.

“I was OK about being alone but when you have a child everything is about exploration and being around other kids and being out in the world and seeing things,” she continued to the paper.

“So now I see things through his eyes. I haven’t ever gone out and explored and done things before like I have in the last three years.

“I have the best life right now because I’m enjoying every single moment of this amazing human being. I’m learning how to have a good time through him,” Bullock said of the three-year-old toddler.

“I’ve got everything I want, and it couldn’t be sweeter, better, or more fulfilling.”

Bullock remains single, saying that she has no plans of getting into another relationship in the foreseeable future. James, however, has remarried in March to professional drag racer Alexis Dejoria, his fourth wife.

Bullock’s sci-fi flick “Gravity,” which also stars George Clooney, will be released in October 2013.
