Scarlett Johansson 'Naked' In 'Under The Skin': Actress Says Her 'Nudity' In The Film Was 'Practical'
Scarlett Johansson recently opened about her role in the 2014 film “Under the Skin.” The actress said in her recent interview to W magazine that for her role of an alien seductress she went completely naked.
“She was a totally different species, so her nudity was kind of practical. I also had black hair. That was my idea—I didn’t think I should be a blonde sort of bombshell,” she said to the magazine. The actress also admitted that she did not want to glamourise her nudity and that was probably one of the reasons she did away with the blonde hair, reports Cinema Blend. Johansson’s film “Under the Skin,” was one of the best films of 2014. The film had opened to rave reviews and also competed for the Golden Lion at the 70th Venice International Film Festival. The film told the story of a female alien who seduces and preys on men in Scotland. Jonathan Glazer directed the film and it is based on the Michel Faber’s novel “Under the Skin.”
The actress also spoke about her role of Black Widow in the Marvel films. She said that people were surprised when she chose to play the comic book character. She also added that the character of Black Widow “resonated” with her. Black Widow also known as Natasha Romanoff is a Russian spy and rival of Iron Man. She is the member of Superhero team Avengers.
Johansson has played the role of Black Widow in “Iron Man 2”, “The Avengers” and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” The 30-year-old actress also hinted that in the upcoming Marvel films Black Widow’s sad past will be revealed, though she did not mention the film’s name. Johansson will be next seen playing the role of Black Widow in the “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” The film is scheduled to released on May 1, 2015. It also stars s Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Cobie Smulders, Stellan Skarsgård, James Spader, and Samuel L. Jackson. Joss Whedon has directed the film.
