Sega, Capcom And Bandai Namco Unite To Bring ‘Project X Zone 2’ To The West
Some of the most popular video game characters of all time are about to meet again in “Project X Zone 2.” The game will feature various characters from Bandai Namco, Capcom and Sega crossing over, though instead of duking it out through team battles, the characters will actually team up in a tactical roleplaying game set to come out for the Nintendo 3DS this fall.
A sequel to the original 2013 game, “Project X Zone 2” will once again, have players making strategic teams filled with their favourite characters from various franchise series.’ Monolith Software, a company also working on the upcoming Wii U title “Xenoblade Chronicle X”, is currently developing the game.
As far as new features are concerned, none have been announced thus far. Bandai Namco have told Gamespot that fans can expect refined gameplay that will supposedly make the game that much more engaging, though how “refined” the gameplay is remains to be seen, though fans can check out some of the gameplay in the video below.
Siliconera managed to confirm a huge amount of characters that will be appearing in the game, some old and some new, with more to be announced in the future. The confirmed Sega characters include Hotsuma from “Shinobi,” Erica Fontaine and Ichiro Ogami from the popular “Sakura Wars” game, Akira and Kage from the “Virtua Fighter” series and finally, Kazuya and Goro from “Yakuza: Dead Souls,” who are new to the series.
Characters from the Capcom side are also quite plentiful. Confirmed so far are Dante and Virgil from “Devil May Cry,” Leon, Chris and Jill from the “Resident Evil” series, X and Zero from “Megaman X” and Strider from the 2D “Strider” games.
Lastly are the Bandai Namco characters. Fans can expect the father and son duo of Jin and Kazuya from “Tekken,” Natsu from “Soul Calibur,” Yuri and Flynn from “Tales of Vesperia” and the newly added Kite from the “hack” games. For those unfamiliar with the title, it is pronounced as dot hack and was a game series for the PlayStation 2.
The “Project X Zone” series is actually a sequel to “Namco X Capcom,” a PlayStation 2 title that came out way back in 2005. The title featured a similar premise, a tactical RPG with various well known characters, though “Namco X Capcom” obviously has a much smaller roster than the ‘Project X Zone” games.
