Sega to Release Shinobi on the 3DS
Fans of Shinobi have been clamoring for its return and after weeks of teasing and rumors, Sega finally confirmed that they are releasing Shinobi for the Nintendo 3DS. The iconic Sega character will have a brand new adventure in the 3DS while keeping the old action side-scroll format.
Gryptonite Games is developing the new game which will add dazzling new visuals and the 3DS capabilities to the tradition side-scrolling game. The new game will also include StreetPass which allows players to connect with each other. There's still no word how Shinobi will incorporate SteetPass in the gameplay but there will be new achievements and challenges to unlock.
Gary Knight, Senior VP of Marketing of Sega West said in the press release that for years fans have been asking for a new Shinobi and with the Nintendo 3DS, Sega will be able to bring the game to the next level.
Shinobi tells the story of Jiro Musashi, the leader of the Oboro clan and the father of Joe Musashi, the hero of the first versions of Shinobi. In the newest addition to the series, players will be getting their fill of ninja action with a combat system that switches between melee, ranged and acrobatic attacks. And what is a ninja game without spectacular ninja magic? Shinobi will allow players to use Jiro's magic to stun enemies and get out of tight spots.
Gamers will have to wait until September to get their ninja action on. In the meantime you can watch the debut trailer below to get you through until then.
