Sept 2014 Release Date for 4.7-Inch, 5.5-Inch iPhone 6s Confirmed as iOS Phablet Accessories Production Ramps Up – Analyst
The iPhone 6 release date will be a simultaneous event for both the 4.7-inch build and the 5.5-inch phablet that is scheduled on September 2014, a new report said, pointing to what appears as ramped up production of accessories that will fit the two devices.
According to MacRumors, Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Brian White recently attended the Computex tech trade show in Taiwan and in the process, the known Apple watcher gathered interesting fresh details about the iPhone 6.
"We believe the timing of the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 launch appears to be in sync with our expectation around the (September) unveiling of the 4.7-inch iPhone 6," White declared.
White's forecast stands on his first-hand account of iPhone 6 phablet accessories that were in display during his Taiwan visit, said the MacRumors report.
"At Computex, we noticed that a few vendors had already started work on accessories for the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 and the pieces were available at the show ... we view this as a positive development," the Apple-focused tech site quoted the Cantor Fitzgerald analyst's report as saying.
Yet question begs - How believable White's projection is?
In a related report, BGR noted that White is credited for accurately predicting the iPad Mini arrival in 2012 and in the following year, 2013, he was again spot on in claiming that Apple will offer its iPhone in multiple colours, which turned out as the iPhone 5C.
However, White is not always right in playing the Apple guessing game as BGR pointed to few misses of the analyst.
Besides, iPhone accessories are not solid indicators of the definitive specs and features for the device, more so of its specific unwrapping schedule, Business Insider said in a separate report, adding that the same thing happened when Apple fans were waiting in 2011 for the iPhone 4S.
Back then, rumours seemed convincing that the 4S will deliver a bigger screen hence the emergence of accessories for an upsized front panel but Apple decided to stick with 3.5-inch.
And one analyst with a better batting average is not in agreement with the Cantor Fitzgerald report. Ming-chi Kuo of KGI Securities is firmly convinced that Apple fans will not be toying with the first iOS phablet until Christmas of 2014.
Kuo even allowed that production glitches concerning the larger iPhone 6 could lead to a launch pushback on January 2015.
White's new claims, however, is supported by a new development this week - that the jumbo iPhone 6 production and release calendar will proceed as planned as Apple will reportedly source some 20 million battery packs from a new supplier.
This means that the iPhone 6 release date could be on September 19, as earlier reported, and buyers can get hold of the regular 4.7-inch model and the super-sized 5.5-inch phablet edition at the same time.
