Several Japanese game developers reveal plans for 2016
2015 saw amazing titles like “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt,” “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain,” “Fallout 4,” and “Splatoon,” which pushed the limitations of their respective consoles. With the year ending, players can expect an even better year in gaming this 2016. Several Japanese developers have even begun to tease players with their plans for next year.
In several interviews conducted by Japanese outlet 4Gamer, developers have shared their future plans when it comes to games this coming 2016. Overall, 4Gamer interviewed a total of 146 developers, and Gematsu has provided a translation of some of the responses of the developers.
The director of “Ace Attorney,” “Ghost Trick” and “The Great Ace Attorney,” Shu Takumi from Capcom, revealed that he is currently preparing for his next project, which is yet to be announced. He is also part of the team responsible for an upcoming “Ace Attorney” screenplay. Meanwhile, producer Masachika Kawata noted that Capcom will first release “Umbrella Corps,” but he said that there will also be interesting announcements this 2016.
Square Enix’s Chief Planner Takashi Anzai, on the other hand, mentioned the 30th anniversary of “Dragon Quest” next year. The gaming giant is also gearing itself for a number of promising projects in 2016.
Director Kotaro Uchikoshi, who was responsible for “Punch Line” and “Zero Time Dilemma,” noted that Spike Chunsoft will release a game version of “Punch Line” and a sequel to one of its titles. Uchikoshi said that the upcoming “Punch Line” will feature an even deeper storyline than the anime, so fans should be on the lookout for it.
Lastly, Level-5’s president Akihiro Hino teased fans with a good year in 2016. He noted that the development team is looking to introduce new ideas and a sequel to a very popular series. The series Hino may be pertaining to could be “Yo-Kai Watch” or “Ni no Kuni.
