Apple's Sept 10 media event is supposed to be the precursor of the rumoured Sept 20 release date for the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C but it could be tweaked into a soft launch unveiling the iPad 5 and the iPad Mini 2 with Retina, new reports said.

The speculations were triggered by reports from Bloomberg that apart from unwrapping its new lines of iOS 7 smartphones, there is a chance the tech giant would allow some peeks to the refreshed iPads.

The 2013 tablet editions from Apple have been generating significant interests in the past months following reports that major reworks on the device led to their radically new looks with more powerful components under the shell.

The fifth-generation iPad, for instance, is attracting attention for its rumoured slimmed down and lighter build, largely assuming the profile that made the first iPad Mini a hot-seller.

The iPad Mini 2, on the other hand, is projected to break the record sales posted by its predecessor if indeed high-resolution display panel is part of the whole deal.

However, the hopes of seeing the two upcoming slates a little sooner were dampened by declarations coming from Jim Dalrymple of The Loop. No iPads will be introduced with the 5S and 5C, Mr Dalrymple was reported by Apple Insider as saying in his blog.

The same report stressed that it is more likely for Apple to follow its 2013 iPad rollout calendar: unboxing in October and to be followed by the commercial release in November, which was the pattern employed by the tech titan in 2012.

It was suggested too that pushing out the tablets even for a sneak peek is too premature considering that too date details about the two devices are largely unconfirmed, as far as Apple is concerned.

Even the takes coming from analysts are somehow confusing - with some implying that the actual release date for the Mini 2 could happen in 2014 as Apple's manufacturing partners are struggling to meet the required volume production of certain components such as the Retina display panel.

There was a projection too, coming from KGI Securities analyst Ming-chi Kuo, that in order to fill the iPad Mini void this year, the tech giant would issue a low-cost version of the compact tablet, which largely will carry on with the specs seen on the first edition but with a slightly affordable price tag.

Yet other observers are convinced the iOS product line up will be completed before the 2013 holiday quarter sets in, save for the rumoured Apple phablet, the iPhone 6, which is seen to come out in the open by Q1 2014.

As such, release dates for the iPad 5 and the iPad Mini 2 with Retina are likely to simultaneously occur on early November but not before the duo take the centre-stage for the much-awaited revelation on mid-October 2013.
