The Simpsons Tapped Out Treehouse of Horror 2015 review and tips for better currency, prize earning
Halloween has landed on Springfield, and players of “The Simpsons Tapped Out” are now looking at another Treehouse of Horror 2015 update. This time, it’s all about bunnies and brains, campfires and stories and a lot of kid-friendly activities.
And by that, it means that the Halloween event will be all about the kids of Springfield. Comparing this to previous major “TSTO” events this year, Treehouse of Horror 2015 may be the easiest on the Tappers yet.
What’s great about the event? Control the currency
It appears that EA has been experimenting with its “TSTO” events. So far this year, there have been major events, including the Super Heroes, The Terwilligers, Tap Ball and the Monorail.
Each had specific mechanics on collecting currency and prizes. Perhaps the most stressful was the Terwilligers. More casual players had a harder time keeping up especially with the strict 24-hour time limit daily tasks.
Things have changed with the Treehouse of Horror 2015 update. It resolves one of the fans’ most common woes: crafting. This is one way to get more prizes in “The Simpsons Tapped Out” events. In the past, fans are limited on what they can craft because of hard-to-get resources, luck-dependent drops or character-limited currency earning.
In this event, EA has done a better job in giving players more control. The mechanics are simpler. For the first act, players just need the kids in the town. Specifically, the major players are Lisa, Bart, Martin and Milhouse.
After building the campfire, the four kids will have the task to tell a scary story one at a time. Each character pays out a different currency—Lisa unlocks snakes, Bart produces skeletons, Milhouse pays out bunnies and Martin brings out zombies. The rest of the kids can roast smores in the campfire, yielding more of the event currency depending on who is telling the story.
This time, players can plan out what prize they want to get. For instance, those who are saving up for The Impossible Tower can keep making Martin tell a story more often to get bunny ears until they get that prize.
Nightmares, moonwalking zombies and formless terrors
The entire event runs on the theme of scary stories and nightmares, which makes all the characters more interesting. The event spawns are moonwalking zombies, bunnies, snakes and human skeletons. One tip for fast tappers is that zombies and skeletons are easier to find on streets, but the bunnies and snakes are harder as they hop and crawl all over.
Formless terrors, which are purple-gray monsters that players can drop in neighbours’ towns, also wrap up the scary monster theme of the “TSTO” Treehouse of Horror 2015. It’s good to see that EA did not remove the ability to help out neighbours by dropping the formless terrors so both the visitor and the neighbour’s town can get more currency prizes.
In fact, compared to the drops from previous events, formless terrors drop more frequently when tapping nightmare spawns. This is a great benefit for “TSTO” players who have many neighbours.
Visiting neighbours 101
Socialising with neighbours also helps during the “The Simpsons Tapped Out” THOH 2015 event. Players can get more event currency and bonus donuts for long-time “TSTO” players with maxed out Friendship Points.
One great thing to note for this event is a new feature from an earlier update. As with the trend in “TSTO,” events allow players to gather all of their building payouts without having to worry about neighbour actions.
Last September, “The Simpsons Tapped Out” introduced the IRS building, which acts as a device to make tapping easier. Some players may have stored it to avoid tapping everything and leaving nothing to visiting neighbours. But this is a great time to whip it out and make building payout collection easier.
Bonus currencies from past event items
Overall, long-time players will really benefit in “TSTO” Treehouse of Horror 2015. While it’s common to store seasonal decorations after the event has passed, EA has given older players a reason to take out some costumes, buildings and characters back into Springfield.
First, there are a couple of buildings worth bringing back to Springfield. The pet cemetery breeds 10 bunnies every 10 hours, while the mausoleum revives skeletons and spawns eight of them every eight hours. Those who managed to craft Hugo from the 2014 event can let him roast smores for more currencies.
Some of the adults can join the Halloween campfire fun with currency-producing costumes. These are Mayan Marge for bunny ears, Ninja Homer for snake eggs and Count Burns for brains.
Even Kang the alien gets a pirate suit, though this does not yield any currency yet. Act 1 for “The Simpsons Tapped Out” Treehouse of Horror 2015 is set to end on Oct. 20. More prizes are coming once Acts 2 and 3 arrive.
