Siri is attracting a growing list of devices that have fallen for her control. Siri can now control your car with a voice command.

Siri's growing control is the result of developers who have created extensible Siri proxy servers which allows Siri to interact with other devices on a network. Applidium started the ball rolling when the group reverese engineered the Siri protocol and posted the files to the public. Faster than you can say "Skynet", developers rushed in and worked out how Siri can talk to other devices and control them. A developer named plamoni created the extensible Siri proxy server that allows Siri to interact with other devices without jailbreaking the iPhone 4S. He was able to control his Wi-Fi enabled thermostat using Siri.

Developer Brandon Fiquett created a SiriProxy plugin to communicate with his car's Viper SmartStart module. He uploaded a video showing Siri starting and stopping the car's ignition, popping the trunk and locking the doors. Using Fiquett's hack, Siri can respond to commands such as "Vehicle Start", "Vehicle Stop", "Vehicle Pop Trunk" and "Lock my car."

This hack won't work for everybody. If you don't have the Viper SmartStart technology or any other form of remote controlling installed in your car Siri won't have any software to interact with. If you do have remote control over your car then this Siri hack will be a godsend for harried mothers and late individuals every morning. Of course this hack won't let Apple's virtual assistant drive your car for you just yet. That technology is still years in the future and Google might beat Apple to the punch with its self-driving car prototype.

Apple hasn't commented on these unauthorized hacks of Siri floating around the Internet. If you want to control your car with Siri you can head over to Fiquett's blog to get the technical details.
