Apple's iPhone App Store is now one famous app short. Sadly, Bohemian Coding has confirmed its highly downloaded design app, "Sketch," will be pulled out of the Store.

This decision wasn’t easy, though, as Mac Rumors pointed out. After a relatively long decision making process, the developers of "Sketch" felt licensing the software they created outside of Apple's store front will give their clients a much better experience. Apparently, Apple's App Store has a lot of limitations, which include a long app review process, no upgrade pricing and sand boxing.

Although Bohemian Coding's decision to pull out of Apple's App Store wasn’t caused by the Store's recently expired certificate issue, it can’t deny it didn’t affect its decision.

"We have been considering our options for some time," Sketch reps wrote in its statement. "We want to continue to be a responsible, approachable and easily reached company, and selling 'Sketch' directly allows us to give you a better experience."

Now that Sketch can sell its apps directly, developers are given the chance to get around the technical limitations implemented by the App Store. They also no longer have to split shares with Apple. At the time that Sketch was still available on Apple's App Store, the design app had to share 30 percent of its sales with the Cupertino tech giant.

Consumers can check out the Sketch App Blog for instructions on how to migrate to the directly licensed version of the app. There’s no need to re-purchase. Avid "Sketch" users only have to download the new copy of the app to replace the old version in their Applications folder.

Although Sketch is now on its own two feet, its development team hasn’t completely shut its door to the possibility of a return to the App Store. Sketch can still make a comeback "in the longer term" if deemed necessary.
