Scentee, a Japanese-based firm, has developed a minute device that allows you to smell, not hear your smartphone notifications. This device is plugged into the headphone port of your smartphone and lets you smell the notifications instead of the usual beeps. It works for both Android and iOS devices.

The company aims to expand the smartphone horizons by stimulating the olfactory sense using a companion app. When there is a notification, from Facebook for instance, it releases a burst of fragrance of your choice. This scent is emitted with a customizable LED light. The device is quite ridiculous, but that is pretty much the point of having this Japan-made accessory.

The most significant factor is the range of available scents. Scentee, undoubtedly, hasn't held back even a bit. Scents are available in mint, rose, coffee, cinnamon, curry, ylang-ylang, jasmine, apple, lavender, strawberry, corn soup and coconut.

But that's not all. Scentee also offers a limited edition Korean BBQ collection which became available Oct. 15. This new scent includes two different flavors: meat and baked potato.

The Android authority reported the Scentee is built with a timer that can be customized to release your chosen fragrance whenever you want. If you just want to smell bacon, even without the notifications, you can do so.

This device works with a scent capsule that can be bought separately. Scent capsules can be used for approximately 100 times and costs $5.

Currently, the makers of the Scentee plan to create more apps in the future which will aid the expansion of the possibilities of Scentee. At the moment, this device can only be purchased on Amazon Japan but it will be soon be available through American suppliers.

Only time can tell if this device can lead to high cholesterol, weight gain or heart attack in its users. But until that day comes, enjoy the garden smell or the freshly cooked breakfast anytime you wish.

Needless to say, with this Japanese innovation, your meeting reminders and Facebook notifications can literally smell as delicious as bacon.
