Apple and Samsung are both preparing for the new age of smartwatch world, but in the meantime, several decent options, including Sony SmartWatch are already being sold. A firmware update has been released for the device which includes six new watch faces.

The update is available from Google Play. Each of the face included from the update has its own style. Aside from it, Sony also brings notification previews to its SmartWatch. The users can now see snippets from incoming tweets, texts, Facebook posts and a lot more.

Unfortunately, the device still has no way to respond to these messages, the watch only keeps you aware of them. The search system has also improved, making easier to find the right apps to view from more than 200+ SmartWatch app. The battery level is now updates.

As Sony releases their SmartWatch update, Samsung Vice President Lee Young Hee told Bloomberg that a watch is one of the new products the company is working on. There is no clear information about its launch, how much does a single watch costs, and what exactly you'll be able to do with it. Apple is also working on the rumoured iWatch which would be a direct competition versus Samsung's Galaxy Altius.

Sony SmartWatch now sells for about $115, originally priced at $150.
