Sony Teases 'Something Extraordinary' is Coming to MWC 2014
Sony is back for another jaw dropping next big smartphone, the Xperia Z2 . The debut of Xperia Z2 is scheduled for 1p.m. in February 4 at the MWC 2014 event in Barcelona, Spain. A teaser was released but it doesn't say much apart from "something extraordinary is coming", and "XperiaDetails 24.02.2014."
Many rumours about Sony 'D6503 Sirius' Xperia Z2 leaked for months now. Rumours said that the smartphone will feature a quad-core Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974-AB) chipset clocked at 2.3GHz with Adreno 330 GPU, 3GB of RAM, 5.2 inches full-HD display, 20.7MP sensor rear camera, and a 2.1MP sensor front-facing camera.
Early February, a so-called teaser video of the Sony Xperia Z2 was released. The video teaser lasted for two minutes and it exhibits the latest Xperia UI running Android 4.4 KitKat. The camera aired in the video also showcases the option to record videos in 4K.
Photos also leaked showing screenshots of the camera setting showing off the capability to video 1080p video at 60 frames per second, and a 15.5MP sensor manual mode.
Last January, a trusted source, an XDA developer's forum member, had displayed a group of suspected live images of the rumoured Xperia D6503 'Sirius'. The same XDA source also released leaked UI screenshots of the Xperia D6503, which revealed the so-called Sony device running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.
Later, another report in January, having purported screenshots, denoted to various photos of Xperia UI that are awaited to be paired on top of Android 4.4 KitKat when the device ships.
In the past months many other features of Xperia UI were leaked. In fact, it was rumoured to feature 4K recording, Timeshift video, smart backlight control, the presence of two home launchers, USB DAC audio support, and more.
At this point, there is no way to tell whether these rumours are accurate or not. Let's just wait for the MWC 2014 to know more about what Sony has been cooking in its kitchen for us.
