Sony Unsatisfied with Xperia Z, Hints a New 10-inch Tablet to go Against Samsung's Galaxy Tab
Tech companies remain a favourite of rumours and countless reports. Their products generate hype similarly to or even more than an entertainment buzz. This time around, Sony saved people time by confirming their plans for a new 10-inch tablet.
Sony has been making quite a buzz with their line of Xperia Z smartphones and tablets. In fact, the series of Sony device releases recently were highly commended. Many think the Sony Xperia Z and Z Ultra are some of the best devices around.
With such a good market response and their products continuing to challenge top contenders in the industry, Sony seems more intent on solidifying their place in the tech industry. With fresh releases out, the company's board has announced their upcoming 10-inch tablet.
In a report from Japanese Business Publication House, Kurozumi Yoshiro, a Sony board member, confirmed that the Xperia series will have 4-, 5- and 10-inch variants. Yoshiro is part of the board planning and developing the Xperia series for Sony. The board member also added that they are releasing several formats of the Xperia series mainly due to demand.
While reports suggest the 4-inch Xperia will be the mini version of Honami, the 5 incher will be another flagship phone. The 10-inch version was a real surprise as many think Sony will stick to their smaller versions.
The new 10-inch tablet will serve as the successor of the Xperia Tablet Z. There are no official confirmations yet on whether the device will run on Android or another type of operating system. Sony has been sticking to slim designs especially in the range of 7 mm in thickness. Many expect the tablet to be just as slim. Other speculated features include Android 4.3, exceptional front and rear camera with high pixel support including a design that goes beyond the rectangular nature of the previous Xperia products.
Samsung and Apple are also set to announce their upcoming gadgets this September. Sony has been proving to be a force to be reckoned with, and it will be interesting if the Japan-based tech giant can also challenge and give two of the biggest tech companies today a run for their money. People will have to stay tuned to find out.
