Sony Xperia C3 (Dual-Sim) vs. HTC One E8 (Dual-Sim) – Specifications, Features and Price Showdown

Sony Xperia C3, dubbed as the "world's best selfie smartphone" was launched in China only last week. The mid-range Xperia C3 will hit the store shelves in August. Meanwhile, HTC One M8's plastic-equivalent, the HTC One E8 (aka HTC One Ace) has recently been launched in June. Display, Exterior and Size

The HTC One E8 features 5.0-inches IPS LCD display with 1,080 x 1,920 pixels screen resolution, while the Xperia C3 features a whopping LG G3-like 5.5 inches IPS LCD display, with a relatively lower screen resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels. In addition, the pixel densities of One E8 and Xperia C3 stand at 441 ppi and 267 ppi respectively.

Being the plastic-variants of HTC One M8, the HTC One E8 is made of polycarbonate material. The HTC One M8's brushed metallic unibody look is replaced with plastic chassis. Thus, the handset's weight is reduced from 160 g (of HTC One M8) to only 145 g. When it comes to Xperia C3, the handset comes with Triluminos display technology that is synonymous with high-end Sony handsets and mobile BRAVIA Engine 2. This combination provides the mid-range Xperia C3 handset with better colour and image reproduction.

The thickness and the weight of Sony Xperia C3 are 0.30 inches and 149 g respectively. Whereas the HTC One E8 is 0.39 inches thick and weighs 145 g.

Hardware, Software and Memory

The HTC One E8 is powered by a superior quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 801) Krait 400 processor clocked at 2.3 GHz. The Xperia C3, on the other hand, is powered by a quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 400) Cortex-A7 processor, clocked at 1.2 GHz. The HTC handset houses a solid 2 GB of RAM, while the Sony handset houses only 1 GB of RAM.

While the Xperia C3 runs on Android v4.4.2 KitKat OS, the HTC One E8 runs on the same OS version along with HTC's Sense 6.0 UI. Also, the Xperia C3 comes equipped with 8 GB of internal storage, whereas the One E8 comes with 16 GB of memory space. In addition, both the handsets support microSD card for expansion. While the expansion limit of One E8 stands at 128 GB, the Sony Xperia C3 stands at 32 GB.

Camera and Battery

The HTC One E8 sports 13 MP rear-facing camera with LED flash, while the Xperia C3 houses a relatively inferior 8 MP rear-facing camera with LED flash. Surprisingly, both the phones sport 5 MP front-facing camera units. However, the Sony Xperia C3 comes with a unique frontal LED flash, staying true to the name "world's best selfie smartphone."

Along with the frontal LED flash, the Xperia C3 also provides an 80 degree target view. Moreover, selfies can be taken in multiple ways, a Smile Shutter function lets the selfie to be captured with just a smile and the other way is to tap twice on the back of the handset.

When it comes to battery, the HTC One E8 houses a 2600 mAh non-removable battery unit, while the Xperia C3 houses a 2500 mAh non-removable battery unit.
