Sony Xperia E1, Xperia E1 Dual, Xperia M2, M2 Dual Android 4.4 Update Guide: Installation and Schedule
Sony has joined the list of companies delivering Android 4.4 KitKat updates to their line of devices. The company has been working out on the release of Android updates for months now with some of its products already running on the most recent versions of Android. The Sony Xperia E1, Xperia E1 dual, Xperia M2 and M2 dual are now reportedly in line to receive KitKat. Similar to other rollouts, devices may have different access schedules based on region and carrier.
Everything that has been reported about the Android 4.4 KitKat update will be included. Nonetheless, Sony also made sure that it added its own tweaks in the firmware according to Uber Gizmo. Sony Xperia E1 and E1 dual users can expect enhancements in the quick settings and status bar of their devices. The interface will also reportedly be more customisable and intuitive. Those familiar with the PlayStation 4 will find the interface similar.
The Android 4.4 KitKat update now offers Sony users better memory options. They can transfer apps from their internal memory to their external memory card. Other updates include Battery STAMINA mode, Sony Select, Smart Connect and Messaging.
Sony also announced that its Xperia M2 and M2 Dual will also be receiving the update. Some of the Android 4.4 features to expect for these devices include Quick Settings features, Status bar, live wall paper and animations. These devices will also receive the PlayStation-like interface.
According to 9to5 Google, Sony will also be improving the entire native app portfolio of Sony to the most recent editions. This means Apps like Movies, Album, WALKMAN and TrackID will also be receive enhancements. The Xperia Themes feature will offer people tailor custom interface experience.
People need to check with their carriers or networks to see when the firmware can be downloaded. The rollout may be delayed for some networks as they have to tweak the program according to their current promotions.
