Sony Xperia M single-SIM model owners wonder if an upcoming Android 4.2.2 or 4.3 Jelly Bean update is available. According to Vodafone Australia, Xperia M users should be patient as an official Android 4.3 update has been set for testing.

Official Android 4.3 Jelly Bean

In case you own an Xperia M, there are two variants that run in different OS versions. Xperia M C190X runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean while the dual-SIM model C200X runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. According to Vodafone Australia, both devices will receive an official Android 4.3 this year and currently scheduled for testing phase.

Xperia M C190X skips over Android 4.2.2 and will go straight to Android 4.3 like what other Xperia smartphones such as Xperia SP, T and V have been through. Vodafone Australia also included three other Xperia handsets scheduled for Android 4.3 update.

Also, Xperia Z's new Android 4.3 update may be an incremental firmware upgrade for bug fixes and several enhancements scheduled to be tested.

But XperiaBlog has another screenshot capture which could be the latest detailing firmware testing failures on both Xperia SP and TX while Z can now be downloaded at their support page. Xperia M remains scheduled for Android 4.3 testing phase.

Sony Xperia M

Sony Xperia M is considered an entry-level smartphone released back in August 2013 and runs an Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. Another model called Xperia M Dual was also released in the same date but it will run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean instead.

Connectivity features include near-field communication, one-touch mirroring and backup, Wi-Fi and DLNA, Bluetooth and USB. Xperia M also boasts design features such as aluminium power button, illumination alerts at the bottom of the virtual keys and highlighted camera ring.

Unlike other similar Xperia phones, Xperia M is a bit smaller with 4.0 screen size, lower display resolution of 480 x 854 and less powerful camera of 5 MP that records HD and HDR with dedicated camera instant fast capture.

Even though it's only an entry-level handset, Sony did put some decent hardware components such as 1 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 plus processor, 1 GB of RAM, 4 GB of internal storage that can be expanded using a microSD card and 1750 mAh battery. Like any other Xperia devices, Sony installed a built-it Power Manager that features STAMINA mode to extend battery life by managing data syncing.
