Official Android 4.3 Jelly Bean for Sony Xperia SP has been delayed which was supposedly released before 2013 ends. While new entry-level smartphones Xperia E1 and E1 Dual passed through FCC with one variant featuring Digital TV, expected to appear at CES 2014.

Sony Xperia SP Delayed Update

Apparently, Sony is still working on the official Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for Xperia SP and promised that it will be out very soon. Inquiries of owners regarding the official update pressured Sony to tweet regarding the current status of the new software for Xperia SP.

According to Xperia Blog, @AkifAkmal, and @ConnorDohertyUK revealed that the firmware upgrade is still in works and apologises for the delay.

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean for Xperia SP is just a part of the future upgrade planned by Sony for it and expected to get Android 4.4 KitKat in 2014 just like with Xperia Z series. The new firmware will bring Project Butter, Xperia Themes and upgrade Sony exclusive apps on Xperia SP.

Sony Xperia E1 and E1 Dual Passed FCC

Sony's new entry-level smartphones for 2014 Xperia E1 D200X and E1 Dual D210X passed through FCC certification. FCC certification revealed that both Xperia phones were handled by ODM Arima Communications under the codenames Falcon SS (D200X) and Falcon DS (D210X).

Xperia E1 D200X Falcon SS is a single SIM model variant while D210X Falcon DS features dual SIM and will be named Xperia E1 Dual in the market. Moreover, a third variant of the Xperia E1 series with model number D2214 features Falcon DTV which may stand for Digital TV, enabling mobile TV functionality.

However, no hardware components or software details have been revealed on the three variants of Xperia E1 smartphones from FCC certification but you can expect Qualcomm processors and Android 4.1 or 4.2 Jelly Bean OS.

Xperia E1 and E1 Dual are expected to appear at the CES 2014 along with other new Xperia smartphones including the highly anticipated Xperia Z2 Avatar - Sony's 2014 flagship smartphone.
