Sony Xperia T and V Android 4.3 Firmware Certified; Xperia Tablet Z Wi-Fi Android 4.3 and Xperia L New Android 4.2.2 Rolls Out!
Android 4.3 firmware updates for Xperia T and V have been certified by PTCRB for LT30p, LT30a and LT25i. Sony begins Android 4.3 live update for Xperia Tablet Z, while Xperia L is receiving another firmware rollout that still runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
PTCRB New Certification
The PTCRB just certified new firmware updates for Sony Xperia T and V smartphones with build number 9.2.A.0.276 moving from 9.1.A.1.145. Based on the new build number, it features significant changes that point to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean firmware.
The new build is compatible with Xperia T LT30p, LT30a and Xperia V LT25i which could be same with Xperia TX LT29i. Unfortunately, the suspected Android 4.3 Jelly Bean for Xperia T and V are not going out before the year ends and expected to be released around mid-January 2014.
Sony Xperia Tablet Z Updating
Sony is now rolling out the official Android 4.3 Jelly Bean for Xperia Tablet Z Wi-Fi variant after the recent release on the LTE version. Owners of Xperia Tablet Z SGP311 and SGP312 can now download and update their Sony tablets to Android 4.3 version with new firmware build 10.4.B.0.577 that brings similar changes on Xperia Z1 such as the following:
- Sony Smart Social camera
- Xperia Theme custom UI packs support
- Multiple Small Apps launching
- Restricted Profiles for multi-users
- New version of STAMINA mode power manager
- Project Butter
However, Sony removed the app shortcut found at the top left of the screen which was available from previous Android firmware version.
Owners can update their Tablet Z via Sony PC Companion or Sony Update Service. There is no Over-the-Air update yet for this new firmware.
Sony Xperia L New Firmware
Another Xperia device getting an update is the Sony Xperia L, but the new firmware is still running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS. It has the build number 15.3.A.1.12 based on Android 4.2.2 with some performance improvements over the previous build version.
Xperia L users may download and update their devices with this new firmware build via Over-the-Air or Sony PC Companion.
Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is supposedly available by now to all Xperia Z devices and other selected mid-range Xperia phones but for some reason, not all models around the world are receiving the latest firmware update.
