Sony Xperia Z 'Sudden Death' Issue, Fix Available Now in Software Update?
Sony Xperia Z users have reported a "sudden death" issue with their new Android smartphone. Reps of the Japanese tech giant quickly responded via forum sites, saying a fix was coming up. Reports are now suggesting that the issue may have been resolved with a just-released software update.
Users typically say their Xperia Z would work absolutely fine one minute, and then it shuts itself off. "Sudden death" was the most appropriate way to describe the situation, users reported.
GSMArena.com reported the new Xperia Z software update does not bring any new feature to the Sony flagship phone. It appears the update is targeted at the sudden death issues earlier discussed by users. Xperia Z users can update their device by either installing it over-the-air or going through Sony's PC companion.
Sony has not released any information on what could be causing the Xperia Z sudden death issues. But the company's reps assure the users the bug has been spotted. It appears the new software update is not an iteration of the Android OS. Xperia Z is still officially running on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. The kernel (3.4.0) also remains the same despite the update.
Xperia Z has yet to be released in the U.S. but it has been a huge success in Japan. Gadget shoppers are attracted to the Z phone for its waterproof and dustproof chassis. Under the hood, the device packs a robust system, too. It is fueled by a 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm S4 Pro processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Users can expand the storage with a microSD card. The phone's 13MP camera is also an attraction by itself for its various shooting modes. The "sudden death" issue was the first major flaw to be reported, since the Z's battery is non-removable.
